Climate Map of US States
NOAA-CIRES's Clickable Map of the US
I have been playing with this site for a couple days now. I found it by accident when I did a Google search for USA + map.
The map gives you the mean high and low temperatures throughout the year for most of the large cities in the US as well as average rainfall and snowfall. The data was collected over a 30 year period, so it shows a very good representation of the temperature and precipitation patterns. It even shows the outliers for extreme high and low temperature.
I have noticed some interesting tidbits. Doing a comparison of Seattle
to Atlanta shows that Atlanta has more annual rainfall (50.1 inches) than Seattle (37.1 inches.) In fact, the Seattle summers have very little rain. Try your own comparisons
